The Fine Print: A Book Review

The classic enemies-to-lovers trope is a popular one among romance books and is prevalent in the book The Fine Print by Lauren Asher.

The book follows a stuck-up, grumpy billionaire who is on a mission to fulfill his late grandfather’s wish to improve the family’s business, Dreamland, an amusement park. What the billionaire, Rowen Kane, does not factor into his plan, is that he will meet a woman, Zarah Gulian, who will change his perspective of what matters more in life: love or money.

Zarah is a minimum-wage worker at the amusement park, mostly working behind-the-scenes, with dreams to work as a creator and develop the park’s rides and attractions. All of a sudden, she is thrown into a new role, causing her to be in close proximity with billionaire Rowan. She quickly becomes someone Rowan can not stay away from, for reasons he can’t figure out.

The drastic difference in each of their lifestyles, one insanely wealthy and the other penniless, causes both to view the world in a completely new perspective. Through emotional rollercoasters and family drama, Zarah breaks through the rough and closed-off exterior of Rowan, piece-by-piece, to figure out why he does not let anyone close to him.

The story builds off Zarah and Roman’s character development. Zarah has been treated wrong so many times and she finally learns to put herself first and grow to know her worth, even when she wishes to do the opposite. On the other hand, Rowan is fighting with his past trauma and trying to deal with new feelings all while trying to secure a spot in his family’s business.

Like any enemies-to-lovers book, the tension between the characters can be felt through the paper and the way author Lauren Asher writes the story, any reader can feel the intense emotions as they read.

I found myself getting angry or sad during certain conflicts and I kept getting pulled in to read more so I could know how the story continued. The book is quickly paced, keeping the reader engaged the entire time.

I would recommend The Fine Print to those who are looking for a heartfelt romance that dives into what the meaning of love is and the sacrifices one has to make to let the most vulnerable part of themself show.

The Fine Print is the first book in the three-book series with Terms and Conditions and Final Offer following after.
