“Wings of Starlight:” A Book Review

Posted on March 27, 2026 by The Quill

By Mattie Lugar

Like many people, I grew up with the Pixie Hollow fairies and watched the Tinkerbell movies religiously, so when it was announced that a book about Queen Clarion and Lord Milori was to be released, I was more than ecstatic. Secret of the Wings is one of, if not my favorite, Tinkerbell movie, so getting a book about the backstory of their romance was something I knew I needed to get my hands on.

I really liked this book because it expanded the world of Pixie Hollow and really fleshed out characters that didn’t get a lot of screen time originally. The book follows Clarion in the time leading up to her coronation to become Queen when suddenly reports of a monster moving from the winter season to spring reach the palace.

Clarion has always been intrigued by winter’s beauty, but it has been centuries since a warm-season fairy crossed into winter. When she learns of this monster threatening all of Pixie Hollow, she sees this as an opportunity to prove to everyone that she is worthy of her new title as Queen. When she reaches the edge of winter’s woods, instead of finding a monster shefinds Milori, the young lord of Winter.

When the two of them form an unlikely bond, they soon learn why a warm-season fairy and a winter fairy shouldn’t be together. I loved Clarion and Milori’s romance in Secret of the Wings, so reading this for me was absolutely devastating. Since this is set a very long time before the movie takes place, knowing the two of them had to wait a long time to be together again was gut-wrenching to read.

Along with expanding the world of Pixie Hollow, something I really appreciated was the expansion of the different talents. If you didn’t really see yourself represented by any of the talents in the original movies, you may see yourself better in this book.

I really enjoyed getting to go back to Pixie Hollow in book form, especially because I loved the other Pixie Hollow books when I was younger. If this sounds interesting, keep an eye out for Wings of Reverie releasing August 4th! This book will follow Periwinkle as she embarks on a journey to save the Pixie Dust Tree.
