Stretansky Hall will open its doors to a never seen before collaboration of music between Susquehanna University and the University of Pennsylvania.

On Saturday, March 23, members of Susquehanna University’s Choir and the University of Pennsylvania’s Glee Club and Band will perform together in Stretansky Concert Hall starting at 7:30 p.m.

The University of Pennsylvania Glee Club was founded on November 5, 1862, and is their oldest performing arts group on their campus. The Glee Club has performed a series of monumental feats over the remaining years, including performing at the White House in 1926. On April 9, 2021, the club voted to remove gender restrictions and now has a mix of talented singers. Now in their 162nd season, the Glee Club remains a pride for the university.

The Glee Club recently did a world tour, spending 11 days in Latin America to perform a series of shows. Some of their songs are published online in an album, including “”Out of My Dreams,” “Blue skies,” and “Let the River Run” among others.

This kind of collaboration has never been done before;, however, Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Amy Voorhees, said that she is excited for her students to perform with not only another college ensemble but also under a different conductor. She emphasized that both opportunities are important for students.

Voorhees and the SU Choir are excited about the performance, especially since they will be sharing the stage with another talented group of people that are just as passionate about music.

Although Voorhees says she would be interested in doing another collaborative performance in the future, it is not guaranteed. So, students and faculty should seize the opportunity this upcoming Saturday, March 23.

For more information on The University of Pennsylvania’s Glee Club, you can see their YouTube channel or their Instagram @penngleeclub. You can also find the performance date listed on their webpage.

Susquehanna University’s Department of Music will be hosting this event, so it is free and open to all students as well as the public, making it accessible to anyone who has a love for music. So come and celebrate 162 seasons of Glee, and your peers in the University Choir.
