What really happens when someone files a Title IX report? Have you ever wondered about the inner workings of the Title IX Office? Do you have feedback on the way our office operates, our trainings, or campus communications? If so, you should consider joining the Title IX Student Advisory Board.

Launched in Spring of 2022, the Title IX Student Advisory Board was created to effectively liaise between the Title IX Office and student body; to identify areas for improvement in Title IX policies, processes, and procedures; and to promote better understanding of decision-making amongst board members. The Board meets once a month for an hour and a half. Each meeting is infused with an interactive training component followed by discussion and brainstorming. It is also a place for sharing updates on what is occurring across campus.

This year our meetings will focus on the following areas of learning: Title IX investigations, evidence collection, what happens during a live hearing, the informal resolution process, and pregnancy/parenting support.

Currently our board consists of fourteen members across campus, but we are always looking for additional students. Below is a list of board member expectations:

· Attend all meetings and complete any preparation before meetings.

· Participate equitably in the group discussions and assignments

· Maintain confidentiality. No cases will be discussed but thoughts and experiences shared by board members during meetings will remain confidential.

· Serve as ambassadors at Title IX events and trainings and provide connection to and ongoing exchange of information with the student body.

· Assist with developing outreach and educational materials.

· Assist in the identification and recruitment of new board members.

· Provide recommendations for education, communication, and advisory board meeting topics.

If you are interested in joining the Student Advisory Board reach out to: paradis@susqu.edu or davisam@susqu.edu. As always, if you are aware of a situation of harm that occurred on campus we encourage you to report it using this link.
