Track and Field Combine for 22 First-Place Finishes on Senior Day

On April 17, the men’s and women’s track and field team hosted the River Hawk Classic against Juniata College and the University of Scranton. It was also Senior Day for the River Hawks. 

The men’s team recorded 12 first place finishes. Freshman Joey Masser continued his streak of positive performances with a first-place finish in the 100m in 11.19, while sophomore Chance Singleton came in second in 11.43 and junior Jonathon White was fifth in 11.92. 

Masser also earned a first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.89m, followed by first-year Jackson Mabry in second place with a jump of 6.03m. 

Mabry won the triple jump with a mark of 12.87m while Singleton took the top in the 200m with a time  of 22.98. Freshman Sal D’Adamo followed Singleton for second place in 23.71. 

Senior Alejandro Gillespie, sophomore Ian Dyson, Masser and Singleton all took first place together in  the 4x400m relay in 3:33.95 while first-year Andrew Rooney got a first-place finish in the 400m in 52.24 followed by Gillespie in second in 53.10 and Dyson in third in 53.75. 

Sophomore Shane Urban won the 3000m steeplechase in 10:32.76 while freshman Isaac Martin came in second with a time of  11:12.97. The foursome of sophomore Isaiah Blatt, White, Mabry and D’Adamo captured the 4x100m relay in 44.19. 

The River Hawks swept the hammer throw as junior Anthony Taddeo won the event with a throw of 43.48m. Freshman Tyler Hauk followed Taddeo in second with a throw of 39.64m while Junior Sam Hebert was third in 38.38m. 

Blatt picked up another first-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 4.50m, while junior Keefer Goodspeed took second with a mark of 4.10m. 

Junior Jack Warehime crossed the finish line first in the 800m in 1:59.10 followed by sophomore Jake Newell in second in 2:08.63 and senior Leonard Bolinsky in fourth in 2:13.87. 

Hauk picked up first-place in the discus with a throw of 41.20 followed by freshman Ryan MacDonald  with a mark of 35.34, Taddeo in third with 35.22 and junior Curtis Anthony in fourth 34.34. 

Freshman Blake Shellenberger got a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles in 18.21 while Newell placed second in the high jump with a height of 1.68m. 

MacDonald came in second in the shot put with a throw of 11.64m while Taddeo finished fourth with a mark of 11.13m and Hauk was fifth with a throw of 9.82m. Hebert led Susquehanna in the javelin with a third place finish with a distance of 48.60m while Taddeo was fourth with a throw of 43.36m.

Freshman Tanner Allison secured a fourth-place finish in the 1500m in 4:23.22 to lead the River Hawks in the event. 

The women’s team recorded 10 first-place finishes. Senior Sara Arbogast notched three of those first-place finishes, winning the 200m in 25.66 and taking first in the triple jump with a mark of 11.17m. 

Freshman Caitlyn Kuhn, junior Anastasia Farley, freshman Emma Myers and sophomore Kallan Carter won the 4x400m relay in 4:25.76. 

Freshman Chloe Yoder captured the 100m hurdles in 16.69 while taking third in the 400m hurdles in 1:15.83. Senior Rachel Seiler finished fourth behind Yoder in the 400m hurdles in 1:17.49 while sophomore Meghan McDonald won the 3,000m steeplechase in 14:27.96. 

Carter captured the 1500m in 4:49.82, which is fourth all-time in school history. Senior Kate Ross followed in second in 4:57.98. Freshman Maggie Boyer took top honors in the shot put with a seventh-best all-time throw of 11.74m, while senior Kristen Blair placed fifth in the shot put with 8.87m. 

The 400m was an all-Susquehanna final with sophomore Sarah Urban winning in 1:04.87 followed by Kuhn in second 1:05.85, freshman Isabella Lentini inthird 1:06.95 and freshman Avery Francis finishing in fourth at 1:18.66. 

Freshman Alexa Rine crossed the finish line first in the 100m in 13.04 while Rine, sophomore Brooke Leitzel, junior Megan Emlet and Francis claimed second place in the 4x100m relay in 52.43. 

Urban earned a second-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 2.06m while senior Marissa Kleman was second in the 5000m in 19:23.60. Blair finished second in both the javelin (32.51m) and the hammer throw (38.92m). Freshman Delaynee McLeod placed third in the javelin with a mark of 29.45m while Boyer came in third in the hammer throw with 33.80m. 

Freshman Abby Korba notched a second-place finish in the long jump behind Arbogast with a mark of 4.91m followed by Emlet in third with 4.81m. In the high jump, freshman Jenna Horning led Susquehanna with a second-place finish (1.42m) while freshman Morgan Ernst tied for fourth (1.32m). 

Senior Jillian Michales placed third in the 800m in 2:36.29 followed by Farley in fourth in 2:38.07. Freshman Julie Acevedo picked up a third-place finish in the triple jump (9.72m) while Rine finished fourth in the 200m (27.89) and Boyer finished fourth in the discus (29.07m). 

Urban said:, “I was nervous for the meet, but excited that my team and I were given the opportunity to compete. Afterwards, I felt accomplished and proud of our team.”
