The Susquehanna department of theatre announces “A Night on Broadway Cabaret” for March 27 and “Marisol” for April 8-11.

The department of theatre is proud to present our annual cabaret titled “Everybody Has a Dark Side- Villains Cabaret” as a part of its Second Stage season.

Due to COVID-19, the performance will be entirely online and streamed via YouTube.

“Everybody Has a Dark Side” is a collection of song and dance performances from well-known Broadway musicals, directed by Allison Steinert. This Villain-themed Cabaret will be featuring songs such as You’ll Be Back (Hamilton), World Burn (Mean Girls), and Killer Instinct (Bring it On). You’ll get to see a range of Broadway’s most well-known villains, from Regina George to Bonnie and Clyde.

The performance will be streamed on YouTube, please visit the “Susquehanna Theatre Department” page on Facebook to access viewing information.

The department of theatre is also proud to present “Marisol” by José Rivera, as part of its 2020-21 Main Stage Season, directed by guest director and SU alum, Darrell Lawrence Willis, artistic director of the Dunbar Repertory Company in Middletown, New Jersey.

Performances will be livestreamed on Thursday, April 8 through Saturday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee performance on April 11 at 2:30 p.m.

Marisol Perez, a young Latino woman, is a copy editor for a Manhattan publisher. Although she has elevated herself into the white-collar class, she continues to live alone in the dangerous Bronx neighborhood of her childhood. Later that evening Marisol is visited by her guardian angel who informs her that she can no longer serve as Marisol’s protector because she has been called to join the revolution already in progress against an old and senile God who is dying and “taking the rest of the universe with him.”

The production will be livestreamed via Zoom for audiences. Zoom links can be purchased for $5 by contacting the University Box Office at 570-372-ARTS between noon and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. The box office will also be open for one hour before every performance. Zoom ticketing is free for Susquehanna students.
