Senior Ryan Bucher is a marketing major and a long-stick midfielder on the men’s lacrosse team from Selinsgrove, Pa. During his free time, he likes to hang out with his friends or do outdoor activities.

“I started playing lacrosse in high school just so I was doing something outside of football season,” Bucher said.

His favorite professional lacrosse player is Ryder Garnsey. “He’s a lot of fun to watch and is very crafty.”

What drew Bucher to the lacrosse team at Susquehanna was “the close-knit bond that the team has and the competitive atmosphere everyone creates at practices.”

Some of his favorite memories here with the team is waking up at 5 a.m. for morning lifts and conditioning and going to the conference championship two years in a row.

If he could relive any game, it would be against Scranton in the semifinals during his sophomore year. “It was a very competitive game against a team that beat us in the regular season, and we were able to win and advance to the championship,” Bucher said.

Being a student-athlete the past four years has taught Bucher a lot about hard work and being able to balance his schedule to accomplish everything he needs to do.

His advice to first-year lacrosse players is, “Go all out in everything you do so there’s nothing to regret at the end.”

If he could give advice to his freshman-self, Bucher would say, “Be flexible and coachable and everything will fall into place.”

Bucher said that he will miss the team atmosphere in the locker room, competing against everyone every day and the close bond he made with his teammates.

Bucher’s favorite quote is one his coach says a lot which is, “Hit the hill.”
