Susquehanna men’s soccer tied Ursinus 1–1 Saturday, Sept. 9 at Patterson Field in Collegeville, Pa., and fell 1–0 to Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday, Sept. 12 in Hershey, Pa.

Sophomore defender Kyle Trainer scored the lone goal for the River Hawks in the two games.

Freshman goalkeeper Kyle Speckhart made five saves against the Bears and seven against the Dutchmen.

Against Ursinus, Susquehanna struck first in the 33rd minute on a hard-hit shot into the top left corner from Trainor for his first goal of the season. Sophomore midfielder Dakota Dobrovich-Fago had the assist on the play.

The River Hawks would have another chance to score right before the half in the 43rd minute on a header from sophomore defender Patrick Bresney but Ursinus saved the shot and Susquehanna went into the half with a 1–0 lead.

Ursinus evened the score with a goal in the 75th minute on a soft shot from sophomore midfielder Braden Burns that found its way into the bottom left corner of the net. The goal was Burns’ third of the season.

The score remained tied at the end of regulation to send the match into overtime, but both teams failed to produce a goal, resulting in double overtime.

Double overtime produced more of the same as neither team found any luck on scoring opportunities. Ursinus came close once, but Speckhart made a critical save in the 106th minute to keep the game tied.

In the game against Lebanon Valley, the River Hawks struggled to find potential shots on goal and were unable to keep the Dutchmen off their side of the field. Despite this, both teams went into halftime scoreless.

Lebanon Valley broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 79th minute from sophomore midfielder Ivan Jorel to make the score the eventual 1–0 final score. Jorel was unassisted on the play.

Susquehanna only put three shots on goal during the contest and were doubled-up on corner kicks 10–5.

The River Hawks return home on Saturday, Sept. 15 against Arcadia.

The Knights are 2–3 on the season with wins over Ursinus, and King’s (PA.).

Game time for Susquehanna is at 1 p.m.
