Pokémon GO
“Pokémon GO” is a mobile phone game launched on July 6, 2016, in the United States after being launched earlier in other countries.
It is a “virtual reality” based game where you can create your own avatar and walk around your environment.
You can catch Pokémon, hatch Pokémon from eggs by walking different distances, spin Pokéstops that give you different trainer items, battle in gyms, battle Team GO Rocket (the game’s version of Team Rocket) and more.
You can even make friends in the game with players around the globe through weekly challenges or gamer codes who you can exchange gifts with for trainer items and raise friendship levels for more boosts.
Your character can choose a buddy Pokémon that you can raise bonds with for more exploration boosts, and you can travel to earn more of that Pokémon’s candy, which is needed to evolve that Pokémon.
Certain Pokémon need to achieve certain buddy requirements to evolve. The game even has legendary, mythical and shiny Pokémon that you can catch through various quests, battles and events.
Online Websites
“Pokédle” is a website that gives you a variety of types of games you can play, including classic, card, description and silhouette.
For classic, you get clues on every guess of a Pokémon, including type one, type two, habitat, color(s), evolution stage, height and weight, giving color indicators for information; green is correct, yellow is close and red is incorrect.
For card, you have to guess the Pokémon from a blurry card; for description, you have to guess from a Pokédex sentence; for silhouette, you have to guess from fragments of the Pokémon’s shadow.
“Pokédoku” is a website where you have to fill the grid of nine boxes with only nine guesses and zero reused Pokémon while keeping your score low.
Pick one Pokémon that matches each row and column; answers lock in, and that Pokémon cannot be reused in another.
According to the site, your uniqueness score adds your answer percentages (lower is better), and categories are based exclusively on the core series Pokémon games and Pokémon Champions.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus
“Pokémon Legends: Arceus” is a Nintendo Switch game launched in 2022, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.
Arceus is a part of the eighth generation of the Pokémon video game series, serving as a prequel to the fourth-generation Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. According to Nintendo, the game blends action and exploration with the role-playing game (RPG) roots of the Pokémon series.
Nintendo said: “Your adventure takes place in the expansive natural majesty of the Hisui region, where you embark on survey missions from your main base in Jubilife Village. Mount Coronet rises from the center, surrounded on all sides by areas with distinct environments.”
In surveying these Pokémon, you are tasked with building the region’s first Pokédex by catching wild Pokémon, with the starter Pokémon being Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott.
In this era, you can discover new regional forms, discover noble Pokémon, ride across untamed landscapes and uncover the mystery surrounding the Mythical Pokémon known as Arceus.
Pokémon UNITE
“Pokémon UNITE” was launched on July 21, 2021, for the Nintendo Switch and launched on Sept.ember 22, 2021, for iOS and Android.
This game revolves around 5-on-5 strategic team Pokémon battles on Aeos Island where each Pokémon has a specific role and different moves that level up throughout a match.
All roles have their strengths and weaknesses, so it is your job to work with your team to create a composition to cover all of your bases.
During a match, some Pokémon cause damage, defend your teammates or heal your allies, and when a Pokémon is leveled up enough, it will learn its Unite Move, a powerful move that can change the tide of a battle.
The main objective of a match is to collect and deposit Aeos energy into the enemy’s goal zones, turning it into points for their team, and the team that deposits the most energy within 10 minutes wins the match.
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee!
“Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!” and “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!” are Nintendo Switch games launched in 2018, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.
They are remakes of the 1998 Game Boy title Pokémon Yellow, the classic Kanto adventures, and redesigned to be beginner friendly.
It replaces traditional wild battles with a motion-based catching mechanic inspired by Pokémon GO.
The Pokémon Database said: “The games have connectivity with the smartphone game Pokémon GO, so Kanto Pokémon can be sent from GO to Let’s Go. Mega Evolution and Alola Forms are also available in the games.”
Secret Techniques replaced Hidden Machines from the original games; instead of learning a specific move, Pokémon can learn a technique that helps the play in the overworld.
Another new feature is Master Trainers who specialize in one Pokémon and must be defeated using the same Pokémon, earning special titles (ex: Squirtle Master Trainer).
The new mythical Pokémon Meltan and its evolution Melmetal can be obtained by connecting the games to Pokémon GO.
