Drag Club x Improv Club: Where Competition and Comedy Meet

Posted on February 5, 2026 by The Quill

Looking to escape the cold and add fun to your routine? The Susquehanna University Improv Club and the River Queens, the SU Drag Club, are collaborating to host a ‘Drag Dash.’ The event will be on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 12 to 4 p.m. in Weber Chapel. Doors open at 11:30 am and there is a $3entrance fee for all attendees. Food and beverages are provided.

The Drag Dash is a drag competition. It consists of a “Snatch Game”, run by the Improv Club, and a lip sync tournament. The audience will vote for the winners.

“It will be an insane amount of fun, and we absolutely cannot wait to work with these talented performers on Saturday,” says Improv Club president Bronwyn Lucyszyn.

The Drag Dash is inspired by the hit competition-based drag show RuPaul’s Drag Race. In the show, about 14 drag queens compete in various competitions such as a lip sync battle, fashion design, and more to win the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” Instead of it being a race, the one-day event is a coined dash.

Collaboration between the Improv Club and The River Queens came naturally as the “Snatch Game” is an improvisational based game. Also derived from Rupaul’s Drag Race, the game has competitors dress up as celebrities of their choosing and are asked questions by the host. They are forced to answer the questions in person, introducing the role of improv since they are not prepared for the questions.

“We figured it was the perfect time to collaborate with The Improv Club to not only promote their organization but also get our queens and kings some improv experts on stage with them,” explains SU River Queens president Sophia Lozada-Delzell.

River Queens started in October 2024 following SAC’s annual drag show. Following the event, performers Trixy Valentine and Moth-er Nature began holding workshops where the founders of River Queens came together. By the end of the 2024 fall semester, the club was official. Annual drag shows are now held each semester, with each show accumulating more attention and performers than the last.

The SU Improv Club, or SU Improv Comedy troupe, meets on Mondays, from 8 to 10 p.m. in Isaacs Auditorium. Here they play fun games and welcome anyone and everyone. They will be having a Valentine’s Day-themed show, Fooling Around, which will be on Friday, February 20, at 7 pm in Isaacs Auditorium. They will also be collaborating with the SU Shakespeare Club and Slam Poetry on Mar. 15 for a special Shakespeare-themed collaboration.
