As October comes to a close, the Riverhawk community geared up for one of the most anticipated fall traditions at Susquehanna, Halloween on the Ave. Returning this year on Thursday, Oct. 30, Halloween on the Ave brought a night of candy, costumes and campus spirit.

Each year, clubs, Greek life and athletic teams line University Avenue to pass out candy and spread the Halloween spirit to students and local families. The student organizations have themed booths, dress up in their costumes, and entertain trick-or-treaters of all ages, creating a lively atmosphere that stretches the length of the Ave.

One of the biggest highlights each year, Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) once again transformed their house into a haunted attraction complete with eerie decorations, jump scares and student actors, with proceeds going to St. Jude’s. The haunted house ran from 6 to 10 p.m. and is a signature feature of the event.

Senior and Tau Kappa Epsilon member Cade Hovey said, “Stop by and enter TKE’s annual haunted house on Halloween on the Ave this Thursday from 6 to 10p.m. Its 5 dollars to enter and all the proceeds go to St. Jude Childhood Cancer Research. Happy Halloween!”

The campus radio station, 88.9 WQSU, did a livebroadcast from the Ave to add to the evening’s fun.

“One of my favorite parts of the fall semester is participating in Halloween on the Ave and getting to see the community come together and dress up brings joy to not only me but the rest of WQSU,” said Junior and Program Director of WQSU, Liz Wilson.

The event began at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, and was free and open to all students, faculty and community members. Attendees are encouraged to dress up, bring friends and enjoy the activities. Those who missed the event should start to get excited for next year’s tradition.
