SU’s Drag Club, River Queens, hosted a frat-style Halloween party in TRAX on Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.

The party consisted of many elements, including a costume contest with over a dozen competing students, dancing, mocktails at the bar, balloons being tossed through the crowd, and more.

Francis Rogai said: “The River Queens Halloween party was an amazing way to celebrate the season! It felt great being in TRAX again and watching my classmates compete in the costume contest.”

Some of the music played were classics from over the decades; the following are some examples:

“Poker Face” by Lady Gaga (2008)

“Calling All the Monsters” by China Anne McClain (2011)

“Teeth by 5 Seconds of Summer” (2020)

“Beat It” by Michael Jackson (1982)

“Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell (1983)

Upstairs, there were two pool tables, one hockey table, and extra seats for people who needed a break from the dance floor.

Some of the costumes included Luffy from One Piece, Batman, 8 Ball, the Creeper from Minecraft, The Cat in the Hat, a My Little Pony squad, and Beetlejuice.

Co-president Sophia Lozada-Delzell and a group of students, including vice president Sky Smith, founded River Queens in Fall 2024 following a drag workshop hosted by Trixy Valentine.

Lozada-Delzell said, “A group of us gathered outside and decided we wanted something like this full time on campus, not just once a year. To this day, only two of us from that group are still with the club (Sophia Lozada-Delzell, and Sky Smith).”

According to Lozada-Delzell, the club was SGA-approved in spring 2025 and began with a Monster High Drag Show, bringing in many of their current board and general members.

Lozada-Delzell said: “Since then, we have grown more and more every year, bringing together people from all communities. In Spring 2026, 1 year after we began, we received Organization of the Year, something we are incredibly proud of. It’s not common for a new club to receive this award. Now, we are a community of 110+ members, all of whom come and go as they need.”

Something new that River Queens has done this year was “proper auditions” for their drag show; over 15 students signed up, but only 10 could be picked.

Lozada-Delzell said, “It was a hard choice, but a good problem to have.”

Along with the proper auditions, River Queens also hosted their first ‘Frat Style’ party in TRAX.

Lozada-Delzell said: “We did this because often LGBTQ+ students can feel intimidated by the frat environments but still want to engage in the party scene. Our ‘frat style’ parties provide them with a space to party, hang out, and experience the late-night fun of college life.”

According to Lozada-Delzell, the first party had over 150 attendees, and their Halloween Costume Party had over 250 attendees.

Lozada-Delzell said, “We are incredibly excited and so happy to know we are providing students with a fun, safe space to party and engage in community.”

River Queens has their cinema drag show on Nov. 14, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the show beginning at 6:00 pm.

Lozada-Delzell said: “Our performers have been working incredibly hard! We also have a special guest, Moth-er Nature, performing with us! We will have mocktails, baked goods, and collectable photo-cards available for sale as well.”

After the cinema drag show, River Queens’ will host their last frat-style party of the semester starting at 10:30 p.m. It is ‘Red Carpet’ themed; “still casual, but dressing up/out is encouraged!”
