On Saturday, Oct. 24, SU’s Paranormal Club (SUP) will be hosting their annual Haunted House in Weber Chapel. The event will run from 6-11 pm and will cost $5 at the door.
As Halloween approaches, the haunted house is one of the club’s highlights of the year. They’ve been working tirelessly since the fall semester began to organize rooms, create their own props, gather costumes, and spread the word. All proceeds will go towards their paranormal investigations on and off campus, as this is their biggest and most popular fundraising event.
Ask SU Paranormal members and they will tell you that Weber Chapel is spooky enough on its own without any decorations needed. Many students who have been in the multipurpose room downstairs admit to seeing a manifestation of a faceless girl, so club members certainly have the right environment to work with.
The tour consists of six terrifying rooms as well as several eerie pathways. As you enter, a guide will take you through the lobby, leading you to the chapel auditorium. It is a ginormous space with many small nooks for scarers to hide. You will be brought onstage, to which all you can do is hope you won’t end up as part of the show. Behind the main event will bring you to the dreaded staircase. As you descend, you’ll be taken to a hall of mirrors, where it will be difficult to tell what is real and what is not. Be prepared to run down a hallway of total darkness that seems to stretch for miles, and even that isn’t the end yet. Before exiting, you’ll have to brave the infamous multipurpose room. If you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the faceless girl that has been roaming the halls.
Each year, the haunted house is themed. SUP has had very successful runs in the past, including a medieval castle, a carnival, and most recently, a haunted forest. If you are unsure of how you will handle the scares, not to worry; SUP offers options for those who were dragged along by their friends. There are also emergency exits if needed.
Be warned that the haunt contains strobe lights, stairs, loud noises, and tight spaces. Guests with sensitivities to these elements are advised to proceed with caution. Enter at your own risk.
