Friday, Nov. 4, Susquehanna University’s Choir and Chamber Singers performed at Stretansky Concert Hall in the Cunningham Center for Music and Art.

The group welcomed two honored guests, The Parkland High School Choir, directed by Alison Lagan, which opened and concluded the concert, while collaborating with the University’s Choir. The other guest was Stacey Gibbs, who is a highly recognized choral composer and champion of social justice based out of Detroit, Michigan. There were several of his renowned compositions featured throughout the concert.

Each student who sang gave a beautiful performance and added distinction to the event. The audience was in awe of the Parkland High School Choir students. They were incredibly gifted, and no one could underestimate their talent. During the finale, the Parkland High School Choir students sang with Susquehanna’s choir students. The songs they sang during the finale were magnificent and the crowd especially enjoyed the finale.

As for Stacey Gibbs, his compositions were incredible. Each one was drastically different, yet each contained beautiful energy that the crowd received.  Many of Gibbs’ uplifting compositions were spiritually oriented. This well-seasoned performer left the crowd feeling invigorated.

The concert showcased many talented students and composers from many different backgrounds, and was a truly unforgettable experience for the audience.
