Susquehanna University’s Department of Music will host violinist Davis Brooks at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, in Stretansky Concert Hall in the Cunningham Center for Music and Art.

 

The concert is free and open to the public The event will also be livestreamed on the Music @ Susquehanna YouTube channel.

 

Brooks is an emeritus professor of violin at Butler University, Indianapolis. He earned his master’s degree in violin performance from Yale University and his doctorate, also in violin performance, from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

 

Brooks boasts a diverse musical background as soloist, pedagogue, conductor, concertmaster on Broadway, and orchestral, studio and chamber musician. He performs frequently with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and is active in many recording studios in the Indianapolis area.

 

Brooks released his most recent recording of new music, “Early Musings,” in 2016, which featured solo music written for him by 10 Alabama composers. Brooks has previously released two solo CDs, “Violin and Electronicsand “Music for Violin by C. P. First.”
