Quilts galore are available for your viewing pleasure at the Lore Degenstein Gallery.
A new exhibition, “Material Pulses,” will be open from Feb. 5 to March 13. The collection was curated by Nancy Crow, an internationally renowned artist and teacher, and features work from artists representing the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Artists featured include Elizabeth Brandt, Mary Lou Alexander, Christine Mauersberger, Claire Benn, Jayne Willoughby, Denise Roberts and Barb Wills. Each artist has their own unique talent for playing with fabrics, colors, and stitching patterns to create a masterpiece.
The purpose of the gallery is to highlight the time, effort, and skill required to make such large quilts. An informational plaque in the gallery reads, “Material Pulses: Seven Viewpoints examines the large-scale work of seven fiber artists who investigate color, pattern, and size through traditional and experimental quilt-making applications.”
The gallery is free and open to the public everyday from 11am to 5pm. There will also be free 20-minute special tours led by Susquehanna University students on certain days. Find more information on the Lore Degenstein Gallery website.
