Field Hockey Closes Regular Season with Defeat of Goucher

Wednesday, the field hockey team shutout Goucher 3-0 in Landmark Conference action at Sassafras Field. It is the team’s fifth straight win and ninth out of its last ten games.

Emma Campitelli, Gracie Roush and Lauren Leibensperger scored for the River Hawks (12-7 overall, 8-1 Landmark) while Mady Quigley provided a pair of assists; Taylor Rothermel also registered an assist.

Susquehanna registered 27 shots compared to Goucher’s (9-9, 4-5) two. Taytum Lombardi and Kylie Schmidt split time in the cage for SU, keeping a clean sheet but making no saves; Katie Bloom made 11 saves for the Gophers.

The River Hawks have earned a first-round bye in the Landmark Conference playoffs. They will host the winner of Lycoming and Elizabethtown in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sassafras Field. The championship game will be played Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed.
