Swimming Opens Season with Sweep of Lycoming and E-town

Both the men’s and women’s swimming teams earned a pair of wins to open the season Friday, defeating both Lycoming and Elizabethtown.

The SU women defeated Lycoming 141-47 and Elizabethtown 114-82 while the men downed the Warriors 154-29 and the Blue Jays 142-61.

The wins represent the first in the collegiate head coaching career of 1st-year Susquehanna coach John Funk, who was previously an assistant coach for Bucknell’s women’s team.

The teams will next be in action for the Schweikert Relays at 5:30 p.m. Friday, kicking off homecoming weekend in Selinsgrove.
