Susquehanna University was alive with energy this past weekend as students welcomed parents, siblings and friends for Family Weekend 2025. The three-day celebration gave families a chance to experience campus life, enjoy the early fall weather and cheer on the River Hawks together.
Families kicked off the weekend with campus tours, open houses and meet-and-greet sessions with faculty and staff. The events allowed visitors to step into students’ daily lives, from classrooms to residence halls. Informational workshops offered insight into student life, covering topics such as study-abroad opportunities, involvement in student organizations and planning for life after graduation.
“I loved seeing where my daughter spends her time every day,” said visiting parent Tammy Tutino. “The campus is beautiful, and everyone was so welcoming.”
Arts and culture also took center stage. The Lore Degenstein Gallery opened its doors for a special exhibition, and student performers provided live music and entertainment throughout the weekend. These events showcased Susquehanna’s thriving creative community and gave families a chance to see the talent and passion students bring to campus life.
Saturday brought the biggest crowd of the weekend to Amos Alonzo Stagg Field for the River Hawks’ football game against Bridgewater (VA). The stands were packed with fans dressed in maroon and orange, creating a lively, spirited atmosphere. Susquehanna delivered an impressive performance, defeating Bridgewater 56-17.
“It was so fun to have my whole family here cheering with me,” said Makenna Maclean, a sophomore early education major. “The energy in the stadium was incredible.”
While the football victory was a highlight, Family Weekend was ultimately about connection. Families shared meals in campus dining halls, took photos in front of the iconic Susquehanna sign and spent time with their students’ friends. By the time the weekend wrapped up, families left campus with a stronger sense of pride, deeper connections and plenty of reasons to look forward to returning next year.
