What the New Starbucks has to Offer

Susquehanna University welcomes back its students for the 2025 -26 academic year with many changes around campus. The most obvious change is the newly renovated Deginstein Dining Hall. Returning students are brought back to a building that looks completely different from what they left at the end of the 2024-25 academic year.

Part of the dining hall renovations includes a new and improved Starbucks. Not only does it have an updated design, but it offers more than the previous store.

Starbucks started its reward program in the spring of 2008 and developed it to what it is today. At the previous on-campus Starbucks at Susquehanna University, customers were not able to earn or use their reward points they earned. Additionally, if it was your birthday, you would not be given a free drink of choice, unlike corporate stores.

However, with the Deginstein Hall renovations, Susquehanna’s Starbucks has integrated the same rewards program you would see at other locations. Customers are now able to use and earn stars towards drinks and food. Many will also be happy to hear that if you have the Starbucks
app downloaded and set up, you can receive a free birthday drink. Customers can redeem the offer by showing it in the app when ordering.

Aside from rewards, there are now three different ordering options available to students: in-person kiosk ordering, GrubHub, and mobile ordering on the Starbucks app. Susquehanna’s on-campus Starbucks accepts gift cards, card, Apple Pay and students’ flex money as payment
options. The store will continue to be a cashless store, as the university’s campus is cashless.

The menu at this location has also expanded to add nitro cold brew as a drink option. Many customers attempted to order nitro cold brew in the past and were not able to, until now. Both nitro cold brew and cold brew have been added on tap at this location, which should satisfy those
who used to be told it was not available.

All are welcome to explore the different options at the on-campus Starbucks at Susquehanna University located in Deginstein Dining Hall. It is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m
