The field hockey team is once again headed to the Landmark Conference title game after a 2-0 semifinal defeat of Moravian at Sassafras Field Wednesday.
Taylor Rothermel assisted on both goals as the top-seeded River Hawks (14-5) held the 4th-seeded Greyhounds (8-11) scoreless.
After an onslaught of shots, Lauren Leibensperger broke the ice in the 18th minute to put the River Hawks up 1-0.
Sophia Prata slotted one into the cage in the 48th minute to double the lead and give SU some security.
Susquehanna goalkeeper Ashley Derrick wasn’t forced into the action as the Greyhounds failed to register a single shot on goal. SU had 10 penalty corners compared to Moravian’s 3.
Like last year, the River Hawks will once again host Scranton (18-3) in the title bout. SU defeated the Royals 2-1 in the ’23 title game before losing 1-0 to William Smith in the first round of the national tournament.
The title game will be played 2 p.m. Saturday at Sassafras Field. SU is searching for its third Landmark title after wins in both 2018 and 2023.
