PRSSA Asks Campus Community to RACE TO DONATE!
SELINSGROVE, PA (04/11/24) – In the United States, 17 people die every single day waiting for an organ transplant. That’s just one reason the Susquehanna University Chapter of PRSSA is in race to get our campus community to donate.
Becoming an organ donor can save eight lives, and during the week of April 15, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to learn more about organ donation and consider registering to be an organ donor, if they haven’t already.
Faith Butler, an SU senior and current president of PRSSA, said, “April is National Donate Life Month, and every year, our PRSSA chapter participates in a national initiative to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation.” Since the chapter began raising awareness in 2019, they have registered over 200 new organ donors.
This year, students can learn more about organ donation by stopping by PRSSA’s table in Deg on Monday, April 15; Tuesday, April 16; and Friday, April 19 to learn more about organ donation, play some fun games like Hot Wheels races and win cool prizes.
On Wednesday, there will be a special showing of the Disney/Pixar movie “Cars” in Charlie’s with free popcorn and snacks at 7 p.m. Special guest Cade Hovey, an SU sophomore who is an organ recipient, will share his recipient journey. And on Thursday, Selinsgrove Raceway will be on Kurtz Lane with a special opportunity to race to donate!
