Susquehanna’s Men’s and Women’s track and field win 2023 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship titles on May 7 at Moravian University.
This is the men’s third straight title win with 264 points for a 126.5 victory margin. The men’s team won in 2022 with a score of 229 and in 2021 with 223.5 points.
This is the first title for the women’s track and field team to claim with a score of 211.5 points. The women have a victory margin of 21.5 points over the 14-year defending outdoor champs, Moravian University.
Alongside their title, the River Hawks collect 13 gold medals, three individual awards and coaching staff of the year.
Director of the track and field teams and head coach Ethan Senecal said that he is excited to see this group of student athletes continue to develop and the program continue to grow.
Athletes on the men’s and women’s track and field team both broke records between Landmark Championship, Landmark Conference and SU.
Junior Chloe Yoder is bringing home two gold medals with her wins in the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles.
Yoder also broke the championship meet record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.25.
When asked about Yoder, head coach Senecal said: “We are so proud of her for breaking the championship record but that was not her focus this weekend. She stepped up and competed in nine different events over the two days and placed in every single one of them.”
On the men’s team, Elliot Davis set a new Landmark and championship record in the 400m with a time of 47.92.
“I’m very proud of setting this record. This is something that I’ve been working towards and to see my success is amazing,” Davis said.
Isaiah Blatt, Ian Dyson, Bryce Ellinger, Bradshaw Henning, Kallan Carter, Brooke Leitzel and Meghan McDonald are the seven seniors that will be graduating from this team on May 20.
“It really does mean a lot to be a senior this year and to think back to the team we were my first season when we were excited to be finishing 3rd in the conference and where we are
