Susquehanna University welcomed the Czech National Symphony Orchestra on Feb. 14 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in Weber Chapel Auditorium.
The Czech National Symphony Orchestra is renowned as one of Europe’s first-rank symphonies. They play a wide range of musical genres, from classical music to jazz, musicals and film scores. The orchestra, directed by Steven Mercurio, is celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2023 and has toured around the world including North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
The Czech National Symphony Orchestra has performed with contemporary pop artists such as Sting, George Michael and Natalie Cole. They have also recorded and performed with composers, conductors and performers such as Ennio Morricone, Lalo Schifrin, James Morrison, Branford & Wynton Marsalis, Danny Elfman and Chick Corea. The concert was part of Susquehanna University’s Artist Series which has welcomed, in the past, internationally acclaimed artists of dance, music and theatre.
