One of Susquehanna University’s favorite traditions, the Christmas Candlelight Service will occur on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Weber Chapel.
The Christmas Candlelight Service is open to all for free and is sure to get everyone in the holiday spirit, regardless of your religious beliefs. Along with traditional holiday readings and prayers, there will also be songs performed by student groups including the University Choir, University Chorale, Festival Chorus, Chamber Singers, Brass Quintet and Handbell Choir.
This beloved tradition started in 1966. Towards the end of the service all the students, faculty, staff and community members in attendance light their candles and fill the auditorium with a beautiful glow as every joins together and sings “Silent Night.”
If you cannot attend the Christmas Candlelight Service in person, but still hope to watch, there will be a live broadcast on the WQSU radio station.
The holiday traditions don’t end here, on Sunday, Dec. 11 President Green will host Be A Kid Again, an event which takes place in Evertt Dining Room. Be a Kid Again takes place from 9:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. and will include holiday music, hot cocoa and cookies and a reading of “The Night Before Christmas” from President Green. This is another great way to get into the holiday spirit, relax and have fun before final exams.
