The Guide to Family Weekend 2019

Need some last minute details and planning help for your trip to campus?  We’ve got you covered. This is only an overview; check the schedule for complete information.

FAMILY WEEKEND 2019 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, Oct. 4

The university will hold a reception recognizing high-achieving students. An invitation to this event was sent to qualifying students and their families. TIME & PLACE: Stretansky Hall 7:30; reception to follow at 8:30.

The Department of Theater presents Working, the musical (read our review here). A backstage tour will be offered on Friday night. Tickets are free for students; $15 for adults; $10 for non-SU students. TIME & PLACE: Degenstein Theater, 7:30 Friday and Saturday, 2:00 on Sunday.

Shabbat dinner will be offered for registered guests. Guests are required to bring a vegetarian side dish, salad or dessert. TIME & PLACE: Goldstein Weise Hillel House, 5:30.

Saturday, Oct. 5

There is lots to do on Saturday! Here is a brief overview; for more details check the schedule online.

Athletics: men’s and women’s tennis at 1 p.m. at the Garrett Tennis Courts. Men’s rugby at 1 p.m. at Sassafrass rugby field. Men’s soccer at 1 p.m. at Sassafrass field. Women’s soccer at 4 p.m. at Sassafrass field. Football at 6 p.m.

There are two opportunities to “Go Back to Class”: Poetry as a Survival Tactic and a presentation on the 2020 presidential election. Both will take place in Degenstein Campus Center at 11 a.m.

Families can attend sessions on self-care and meditation, career readiness, academic and mental health support and the Global Opportunities program. These panels are offered throughout the day.

Families can also take self-guided tours of the Center for Environmental Education and Research on campus.

Other highlights include the Lore Degenstein Gallery and, of course, Selinsgrove! Explore the wider community around Susquehanna and enjoy all the area has to offer. If you need some ideas, check out Where to Eat in Selinsgrove, According to Twitter!

Sunday, Oct. 6

Sunday service will take place in Weber Chapel at 11 a.m.

The Hillel House will host a bagel brunch for families at noon.
