Senior Rebekka Rosen and junior Briana Heinly will perform a student recital at 7:30 p.m. on March 2 in Stretansky Concert Hall.
“I have been talking about and preparing for my senior recital since my very first year at Susquehanna,” Rosen said. “The fact that this moment is actually here is incredibly surreal.”
Rosen said it was an easy decision for her to ask Heinly to be her recital partner.
“[Heinly] is an incredibly talented individual,” Rosen said. “I could think of no one better to perform alongside.”
“We are able to really lean on each other and work together to create an incredible performance,” Rosen continued.
Rosen and Heinly will perform works by Mozart and Bernstein, as well as a set of three Ladino folk songs that they will perform together.
Rosen emphasized the personal importance of the repertoire they will be playing.
“One of my favorite aspects about my part of the program is that all of the music is incredibly personal and special to me,” Rosen said.
“‘100 Easy Ways to Lose a Man’ [by Bernstein] is unlike anything I have ever performed before,” Rosen said. “It’s funny and a little spunky, and it is really pushing my limits as a performer.”
Rosen also emphasized how the pieces that they have chosen showcase a part of the musicians themselves.
“These pieces are truly a reflection of us and I can’t wait to showcase them on our recital,” Rosen said.
