O-Team applications went live on Jan. 22 as students arrived on campus for the second semester of the academic year.

The Office of First Year Experience is looking for motivated, and passionate students who are proud to represent Susquehanna. One person who encompasses all of these qualities is Abby Dawes. Currently a junior here at Susquehanna, she is actively involved on campus, and loves Susquehanna and the values it stands for. She has served on O-team in the past and has a lot of experience in the process of being a leader and experiencing it for herself.

Dawes said, “I decided to join O-team because I love Susquehanna and the community it provides. I wanted to make the first years have the most fun possible on their first weekend in this school.”

“O-team is important because it’s the first experience the students have at this school. The first weekend sets the tone for the first years’ experience on campus, and it’s important to start it off right. It also provides the students with so much information, such as resources for their major, pillars that the school values (aka service and leadership), and student life resources.”

“My advice would be to be yourself! Be confident in your abilities and be professional in your interview. Sell yourself with more than just “school spirit,” and explain how you can make the experience for the first years something memorable!”

O-team members wear bright orange and maroon shirts in the beginning of the fall semester, always carrying bright smiles on their faces, looking to help students here at Susquehanna. Throughout the semester and throughout the academic year, the O-Team Leaders are available to support students.
