Photos: Late Goal Dooms Women’s Soccer Against Catholic

A 78th minute goal doomed the women’s soccer team against Catholic in Landmark Conference action Tuesday night at Sassafras Field.

Isabel Doherty scored late in the second half to push the Cardinals (8-6-2 overall, 5-1-1 Landmark) to victory. The goal was assisted on by Caroline Aponte.

Katie Henchy made five saves for the River Hawks (8-8-1, 3-3-1). Ava Billmeyer and Morgan Stickley both recorded two shots on goal for SU.

The team will next be in action at Lycoming on Saturday before finishing the regular season at Goucher on Tuesday.

The opening round of the Landmark Conference playoffs is on Saturday, Nov. 1. If the current standings hold, the River Hawks would host Elizabethtown in the quarterfinals.
