Four sure seems to be the lucky number for the women’s soccer team.

The women’s soccer team (4-4) dominated in a 4-0 thrashing against Muhlenberg (3-3-1) at Sassafras Field on Wednesday night in non-conference action. It is the third time in the last four games that they have scored four goals while shutting out their opponents.

Susquehanna got started fast, as twenty minutes into the first half, senior Katie Quaglia would grab her first goal of the season, finishing a wonderful delivery from a Chloe Michaels dead ball. The River Hawks would maintain control of this tight game going into the half, up by one, with a lot to do against tricky opposition in Muhlenberg.

The second period would bring a three-goal showing for the River Hawks, with the first goal delicately placed into the bottom of the net from Morgan Stickley after an incisive through ball from Olivia St. Amand.

“I know that Morgan loves to be running up from breakaways, so I thought I might as well hit it as far as I can for Morgan to run to,” St. Amand said.

Stickley would cause problems yet again for the Mules defense, splitting the back line only to be brought down by Rahway Hager, earning the Hawks a penalty. It would be senior Sydney Williams who stepped up to slot the penalty away to put the River Hawks up by three goals.

However, this attacking masterclass was far from over with time ticking down; Stickley would win a corner and pick out Williams with one second remaining, who’s volley would seal the four-goal thriller.

“Friday night felt like we played well, but we did not win, that’s why tonight not just winning, but winning pretty emphatically is important,” said SU coach Nick Hoover, referencing the team’s earlier loss to DeSales. “The biggest thing is believing in what you’re doing even though the results don’t match up.”

The team will next be in action at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Stevenson.
