What Susquehanna Has to Offer as Warmer Weather Approaches

By Lauren Quinn

As the clouds part and temperatures rise, Susquehanna’s campus comes out of its shell and reminds students of everything it has to offer.

Between Degenstein Lawn, Smith Lawn, and the many lawn chairs spotted around campus, there are an endless number of areas to soak in the sunshine. Whether it is to do homework, relax with friends, or even get in a quick nap, every student has a spot that they call their own.

Sophomore Makenzie Cober said that she likes to “set up a hammock and read and do homework when it gets warmer.”

The trees on campus can serve as hammock support, or a nice piece of shade when the sun becomes too hot.

Many of the facilities on campus are also open for students to utilize if a sports team is not using them, said Devonne Tourre, Facilities Operations Coordinator at the university.

“The fire pits […] one in front of Deg […] and another behind campus safety, as well as two grills, also on 18th Street,” are open for students to reserve and use, added Tourre.

Other opportunities for students include the Sassafras practice fields, the outdoor track, the field house, and the tennis courts, he said.

A variety of sports and activities can be played in each.

If one is looking to play a game of basketball, there are outdoor courts behind West Village, as well as indoor nets within the field house.

Tourre mentioned that the Outdoor Rec program has basketballs and soccer balls that students can rent, as well as bicycles and cornhole.

Susquehanna students’ spirits are beginning to bloom right alongside the Ginkgo trees!
