The PS I Love You SU chapter hosted its first “Purple Selinsgrove” initiative on Sunday, Feb. 9.
Members of the P.S. I Love You SU chapter and Alpha Phi Omega co-ed service fraternity all collaborated at the Selinsgrove Commons Sunday morning to decorate the area with purple hearts, positive quotes and purple banners.
Director of Outreach for P.S. I Love You, Taylor Poelma, said, “Getting the community involved with P.S. I Love You is really important especially with breaking the stigma around mental health. There are so many people that are impacted by mental health problems every day, so just spreading the positive message that you are loved is so impactful.”
This event will promote suicide awareness and spread love to the Selinsgrove area. It was also the start of the 3rd annual P.S. I Love You week at Susquehanna.
“I think it was really rewarding to be a part of something like P.S. I Love You because mental health isn’t talked about enough, but I think it’s important for everyone to know that there’s at least one person who cares about them,” said Alpha Phi Omega President, Keziah Sommers.
P.S. I Love You SU and Her Campus will be hosting daily events from Feb. 10 to Feb. 14. They will host events such as bingo, love letter writing with It’s On Us: the SU chapter, and suicide prevention training to raise mental health awareness and spread love and support.
Even if you can’t make the events, make sure to wear purple to show your support.
