Selinsgrove borough council member Erik Viker announced his intention today to run for Mayor of Selinsgrove in the 2025 general election.
Viker has served three full terms on borough council and has twice been appointed to complete vacated terms, including a current term ending in 2025. During this time Viker has served as vice-president of council and chair of the public safety committee. Viker has also twice been elected Constable by Selinsgrove’s 3rd precinct.
“Mayor Jeff Reed is not running for re-election and I want to continue his successes representing the best interests of Selinsgrove citizens and supporting the work of Chief Petrovich and our excellent police department,” says Viker. “My experience on borough council and as Constable make me uniquely qualified to promote peace and public safety as mayor.”
Viker states that as mayor he would continue the policies he already promotes as an elected official, encouraging municipal government to act with financial conservatism, restraint, and fairness for all citizens.
“Because I am a registered independent voter I will not appear on the ballot until the November general election,” says Viker, “but I welcome political party voters to write in my name during the May 20 primary election.”
He reminds voters that the last day to register to vote in the primary election is May 5.
Viker has lived in Selinsgrove since 2003 and teaches theatre management and operations at Susquehanna University. Before settling in Selinsgrove, he spent thirteen years as a child abuse intervention counselor and supervisor in rural North Florida and worked as a venue manager in Austin, Texas.
He is a professional stagehand and a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (local 636), the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, and Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. He is married to Brenda Fabian, originally from Altoona, PA. The couple is dedicated to community service, with Brenda having served three terms on the borough’s Zoning Hearing Board.
I’ve known Erik Viker my whole life. He’s my awesome uncle. My dad says his big brother Erik has the strongest integrity of any person he knows! – Matthew Viker
