The football team, ranked No. 6 in the nation by D3football.com, finished out its regular season Saturday with a 55-7 win over Lycoming in the annual Stagg Hat Trophy rivalry game at Girardi Stadium in Williamsport.

The River Hawks (9-1 overall, 6-0 Landmark) secured their 21st straight conference victory with the win.

SU has secured an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs as the Landmark Conference champions. The River Hawks are eager to learn their fate, to be determined on the NCAA’s livestream at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Most bracketologists have the River Hawks receiving a first round bye and playing a home game in the second round. SU has lost in the first round each of the past two seasons.

Susquehanna quarterback Josh Ehrlich accounted for five scores, passing for four and running for another. He totaled 295 yards of offense on 16-25 passing.

Two of those scores went to wide receiver Kyle Howes, who hauled in eight passes for a total of 99 yards.

First-year running back Rahshan La Mons ran for 154 yards and a pair of scores on a ridiculous 14 yards per carry.

The River Hawks scored all of their possessions in the first half as both Rowen Hershey and Chris Bookter brought in touchdown receptions.

The most exciting moment of the afternoon was when fifth-year offensive lineman Nick Gonzalez lined up in the backfield and ran it into the end zone for a 2-yard score.
