Field Hockey Shuts Out Lycoming

The field hockey team snapped its two-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-0 win over visiting Lycoming at Sassafras Field in Landmark Conference play.

The River Hawks (6-4 overall, 2-0 Landmark) tallied 44 shots in the win. 26 of the shots were on net; Lycoming (6-5, 1-2) goalkeeper Isabella Bobe to make 22 saves.

Lydia Hidlay opened scoring in the 12th minute, scoring her fourth goal of the year off assist from Rebecca Ripans.

Ripans scored herself in the third quarter, this time off a pass from Mady Quigley. Lauren Liebensperger totaled SU’s scoring 42 seconds later when she buried an unassisted goal.

Susquehanna goalkeeper Taytum Lombardi was forced into action just once, recording a save on her only attempt to do so.

The River Hawks will be back in action 7:00 p.m. Tuesday when they host Alvernia in a non-conference battle at Sassafras Field. They will then host Elizabethtown 1:00 p.m. Saturday. Senior day festivities will precede the game against the Blue Jays.
