The field hockey team got off to a red-hot start in Landmark Conference action last Saturday, trouncing Drew 6-1 at Sassafras Field.

The River Hawks (3-2 overall, 1-0 Landmark) tallied 27 shots and 16 on goal en route to the dominant victory.

Sophia Prata scored her first goal of the season in the fourth minute of the game after a great pass from Ashley Schreffler.

Less than a minute into the second quarter, Susquehanna doubled its lead with a goal by Rebecca Ripans on assist from Taylor Rothermel. Seven minutes later, Kari Schmidt scored after a penalty corner conceded by the Rangers (5-3, 1-0).

Susquehanna scored once in the third quarter when Emma Campitelli converted from the top of the circle on assist from Lydia Hidlay, her second of the day.

The River Hawks added two more in the fourth quarter to secure the win, with Ripans scoring in the 49th minute while Prata scored with just three minutes left to play.

The Rangers’ only goal of the game came in the fourth quarter when Ellie Kopec scored off a penalty corner.
