The River Hawk attack was relentless. The scoreboard kept lighting up.

Four times, to be exact. Susquehanna powered past Delaware Valley 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Sassafras Field in a non-conference contest.

Junior midfielder Kalie Quaglia scored the contest’s opening goal after twenty-five minutes of close-but-not-quite.

She was assisted by first-year midfielder Gigi Duncan, who laced a cross into the 18-yard box that Quaglia was able to get under.

“In film, we always talk about the weak side and that’s usually always open,” Duncan said. “So, Q (Quaglia) made a great run in, and I was able to slot it through and she got on the end of it.”

The second River Hawk (4-3-1) goal came at the 37:16 mark courtesy of first-year defender Kim Dalessio. At halftime, Delaware Valley (1-6) had yet to even test SU goalie Katie Henchy as both of their first half shots missed the net.

The River Hawks picked up where they left off in the second half, scoring just three minutes into it, this time via an unassisted goal from first year forward Ava Billmeyer.

Just over a minute later, Billmeyer once again found her way on the score sheet when she connected with junior midfielder Morgan Stickley for the score to make it 4-0 in favor of the River Hawks.

Delaware Valley midfielder Jess Williamson got one back for the Rams with 24 minutes remaining, but the Susquehanna lead proved to be insurmountable.

The River Hawks travel to Ewing, New Jersey to take on 11th-ranked TCNJ on Wednesday afternoon.

“After winning this game, we’re going to walk into TCNJ with our heads held high. They’re going to come ready to play and so are we,” said Quaglia.
