Susquehanna’s Black Student Union (BSU) to host 10 events throughout February.
In commemoration of Black History Month, BSU plans to have these events scattered throughout the month. Four of which, have already come to pass. The most prominent of which, the fourth Annual Black Excellence Showcase was hosted Saturday in Isaacs Auditorium. This event features Susquehanna students performing a wide variety of talents, often to a sold-out crowd.
Last year, BSU was interviewed by CBS 21, which is an affiliate with CBS TV Harrisburg, for their showcase. To watch the full interview, visit localnews21.com
Nala Washington, president of BSU, says the group has worked tirelessly to plan and carry out all these events. Washington is one of the 60 plus members that are involved with the organization.
Their best strategy for planning this month, Washington said, was dividing and conquering. By delegating each event to a specific committee of members, they are able to plan events that properly celebrate culture and the meaning of the month.
Later this week, they will hold their “A Very Black Valentine” Event. Taking place on Valentine’s Day in the Apple Meeting Rooms, all are welcome to come celebrate together.
