The Susquehanna River Hawks hosted Lycoming’s baseball team on Wednesday, April 12. The River Hawks kept their momentum rolling from their victory against Moravian on April 7.
After the first two innings, the score was tied 0-0. Neither team started off the game hot. Susquehanna got a hit in the second inning but could not capitalize on it. In the third inning, Dylan Heyduk led off the inning with a triple. He got to home plate off a hit from Tyler Hmielewski. The River Hawks were able to push the lead forward and ended the third inning 3-0.
Entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the score was 3-1. Lance Book hit a single RBI to bring the lead back up to 4-1. The eighth inning was the opening of the floodgates for Susquehanna. The River Hawks were able to get six hits and earn five runs. This put Susquehanna up 9-1. Lycoming got a run in the ninth inning, which made the final score 9-2.
This dominant performance by the River Hawks put them at 16-12 on the season. The game showed great hitting, good base running, and spectacular defense from Susquehanna. Hopefully, the players can carry out their momentum for the remainder of the season.
