The Susquehanna softball team played two games against Stevenson University at home on March 30. This was their second doubleheader at home of the season. The Mustangs won the first game 7-4 by driving in three runs in the final inning, but the River Hawks came back in the next game with a three\run second inning victory, winning 3-1. Susquehanna has a weekend off before hosting York College in a doubleheader Wednesday, April 5, followed by Moravian Saturday, April 8.
Stevenson 7, Susquehanna 4
The first game was close throughout the first six innings but ended in defeat for the River Hawks. The final score was 4-7.
Stevenson led with two runs in the second inning, scoring one more in both the fourth and fifth inning. Susquehanna fought back with three runs all scored in the fourth inning. Erin Bean started the inning off with a walk, being the first to score by stealing bases as she made her way around the diamond, followed with Warner singling to right field. Meredith Pavlik got on base next. Brianna Jones, pinch running for Warner, and Pavlov reached home plate next thanks to Hailey Kaba’s single RBI to right field.
While the score was tied 4-4 in the sixth inning, Stevenson secured the win with three runs in the final inning.
Warner led the Riverhawks by going 2-3 and scoring one run, Morgan Henry went 1-3 with a double, and Kaba went 1-3 with one hit and two RBIs. Stevenson dominated with 14 hits and allowed one error in the first game, while Susquehanna trailed with five hits and allowed two errors.

The River Hawks made their comeback in game two, defeating the Mustangs 3-1.
Susquehanna secured three runs in the third inning, which was all they needed to claim the win. Henry drove in Kaba, leading to the 1-0 score to start the inning. Henry stole second base, Kassidy Smith hit a single to centerfield, and pitcher Brianna Jones’ single moved Smith to third while Henry scored. Bean reached first on an error that allowed Smith to score the third run.
First-year Brianna Jones pitched in the second game for the River Hawks, allowing one earned run and six hits with one strikeout and two walks. Stevenson attempted to overcome the River Hawks in the seventh inning with bases loaded and one out, but Susquehanna’s defense got the job done. Kaba’s one-handed catch in right field ended the ballgame.
The River Hawks and Mustangs each had six hits during the game. Susquehanna led by three single RBIs from Henry, Smith, and Bean.
