The Susquehanna River Hawks welcomed the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins to Sassafras field on Saturday, March 29, looking to add to their two-game winning streak. The River Hawks were looking to start off flying, which is exactly what happened right out of the gate.

The Hawks jumped to a 6-0 lead within the first six minutes of this game. Brennan Lorence and Connor Aitken both picked up three goals apiece to push the Hawks out in front. The Griffins would end the Hawks’ scorching-hot start with a goal of their own coming midway through the first quarter.

The Griffins’ goal seemed to do nothing but piss the Riverhawks off as they went on a 5-0 run that carried into the opening minutes of the second quarter. The run would be stopped by Justin Carney of the Griffins, who was the same scorer to stop the other run. Both teams would trade another goal going into the halftime break with a score of 12-3.

The River Hawks started the second half the same way that they started the first half – on fire. With Rob Swenson’s goal in the second half, the Hawks went on yet another 6-0 run with Lorence, Aitken, Jack Gaillard, and Chris Ciccarello scoring in the third quarter.

Both teams traded a few goals in the final quarter of this game, adding to the score line. The game ended 19-5 in favor of the River Hawks. The Hawks outshot the Griffins 56-29 on the day winning 24/28 of the faceoffs. The River Hawks were dominant in all aspects of the game on Wednesday with three players notching over three goals.
