As the holiday season approaches, you may be looking for something to put you in the holiday spirit and watching a Christmas movie will always do the job. Here are a few classic Christmas movies to watch before the holidays.

Everyone knows the movie “Elf.” It is many people’s favorite Christmas movie of all time. In this classic movie, the main character, Buddy, played by Will Ferrell, is accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. Buddy begins to develop feelings of not fitting in, so he decides to travel to New York. On his journey, he tries to find his father, a cynical businessman. A DNA test proves that Buddy is truly the son of Walter, played by James Caan. In response, Walter reluctantly attempts to form a relationship with his childlike adult son. This movie is filled with hilarious moments that makes viewers get into the Christmas spirit.

Another classic Christmas movie that everyone knows and loves is “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” The main character, Charlie Brown, complains about the overwhelming amount of materialism that he sees around him during the Christmas season. Lucy, Charlie Brown’s bully and best friend, suggests that Charlie Brown becomes director of their school Christmas pageant. Charlie Brown agrees to this but struggles. He attempts to restore the Christmas spirit with a lonely and sad looking Christmas tree. He needs the help of Linus, another one of Charlie Brown’s best friends, to learn the true meaning of Christmas. While this short comedy movie which came out in 1965 has been around for a while, it never fails to implement a meaningful message about what the Christmas season is truly about.

Another Christmas favorite is “Home Alone.” The night before the McCallister family leaves for their trip to Paris, bratty 8-year-old Kevin misbehaves so his mother makes him sleep in the attic. The next morning, when the family leaves for the airport, Kevin is mistakenly left home. Kevin finally wakes up to an empty house and thinks his wish to have no family came true. He is excited until he realizes that two men plan to rob the McCallister’s home. Kevin takes on the task of protecting his home at all costs. This Christmas movie is a great one to watch with your family and provides a great laugh for all.
