Drag Show Returns to SU

By popular demand, the Drag Show made a return to Susquehanna on Friday, Oct. 7 at Trax. The room was filled with positive energy and the show provided a great way to have fun and relax during a stressful time of the semester. This event was not only fun and free, but it also showcased an artistic culture that not everyone is aware of.

The event was hosted by Trixy Valentine, a performer in costume and out. Alongside her were five other Drag kings and queens: Ariana Autumn, Harpy Daniels, Eileen O’Brennan, Alonya Chest, and Peter Pasny.

The Drag Show was high energy and interactive. The performers frequently interacted with the crowd, and some lucky audience members were pulled up on stage. Earlier in the day, the Drag Queens hosted drag dance class, and they brought the students who participated in the class on stage.

This show involved the artists singing and lip-synching to songs while performing a fun and unique dance. There was also an element of comedy and skits, and as mentioned earlier, audience interaction.

The clothing and costumes that the Drag’s wore were all about personal expression. Each performer dressed the way that they felt best expressed them as a person. From sparkly high heels, to feather tops, these Drag performers’ costumes were exuberant and thrilling.

To go along with the unique costumes, the queens wore exaggerated, bright colored makeup, like vivid eyeshadows and accentuated brows. The makeup and the costumes sold the performance for the audience.

The Drag Show was once again a huge success and will hopefully become an annual event at Susquehanna.
