Michael Ruisch tallied 267 total yards and three touchdowns to lead the Susquehanna Riverhawks to a 37-3 victory Saturday over the Moravian Greyhounds.
Ruisch bounced back from a poor performance last week where he had just 205 passing yards and four interceptions.
“The o-line did a great job of protecting [me] all day today,” Ruisch said.
The Riverhawk’s defense played well all game, limiting the Greyhound’s offense to just 123 yards of total offense and three points with two turnovers.
Elijah Hoffman got the scoring started as he drilled a 36-yard field goal to put the Riverhawks up 3-0 early in the first quarter.
Sam Bingaman fumbled the ball on a punt for the Greyhounds, setting up the Riverhawks with first and goal.
Michael Ruisch ran it in for a 5-yard touchdown to make it 10-0 Riverhawks with 7:25 to go in the first quarter.
Jared Jenkins threw an interception to Andrew Wells for the first turnover of the game for the Riverhawks.
Ruisch rifled a 21-yard touchdown pass to Rowan Hershey to make it 17-0 Riverhawks to start the second quarter.
The Greyhounds finally got on the scoreboard as Bingaman finished a drive with a 32-yard field goal to make it 17-3 Riverhawks in the second quarter.
Drew Robinson grabbed Jenkin’s second interception and returned it to the Greyhound’s 4-yard line, giving the Riverhawks great field positioning.
Frankie Negrini plunged for the 1-yard touchdown for the Riverhawks to make it 24-3 with 8:05 to go in the half.
Negrini ran the ball 12 times for the Riverhawks and scored once.
At halftime, the score was still 24-3 Riverhawks after a missed field goal attempt by Hoffman.
Ruisch lofted a 31-yard pass to Kyle Howes for his third touchdown of the game and make it 31-3 Riverhawks to start the second half.
“[Kyle] gets open a lot,” Ruisch said.
Howes had five receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown for the Riverhawks.
DK Wyche picked up his first touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter to make it 37-3 Riverhawks after Hoffman missed the PAT.
Wyche carried the ball 11 times with a touchdown for the Riverhawks.
Assistant Coach Ruley said, “I was super, you know, just happy with how when the lead was what it was that we kept our foot on the gas and kept playing well [in the second half].”
