Spring ’22 registration brings new system to students

When Susquehanna students register for their spring courses beginning next week, they will do so on a new platform.

This semester’s registration will occur through EAB and not the service through mySU that had been used previously.

“We chose a system that would enhance the student experience by bringing advising, planning, communication, to-do lists, and so on into one platform,” Chief Information Officer Jennifer Servedio said.

The platform allows students to complete a variety of tasks in one place.

“Between the new EAB student app and this new academic planning tool, we are empowering students to be more proactive with their time at SU and to plan their academic career,” said Marie Hassinger, the director of IT project management and strategic initiatives.

EAB is already in use across campus for other purposes, including scheduling tutoring appointments at the Center for Academic Success.

The platform uses single sign-on through Microsoft 365, so all students are able to login to the site using their Susquehanna email.
Once logged in, students will navigate to EAB’s “Academic Planning Tool” and plan, select and register sections. The direct link to this is on mySU in the “Applications” tab on the home page.

The first time a student logs in to EAB they may be asked to complete an intake survey. The survey includes demographic questions and questions about a student’s plans for college and future careers.

The class registration component of EAB can be accessed by selecting “Planner” in the menu across the top of the landing page.

To help students adjust to the new software the Registrar’s office has prepared step-by-step videos and other communications. Those are available on the Susquehanna website.

Hassinger and Associate Registrar Bonnie Rice said that while EAB is new to many students, the actual process of registration has remained largely the same. Students should still meet with their academic advisors to discuss course requirements before choosing their sections.

Seniors will be the first to register for spring courses beginning at 7:30 a.m. on November 1 and ending at 8:30 a.m. the following day. Junior class registration runs from 7:30 a.m. on November 3 and ends at 8:30 a.m. on November 4. Sophomores register next, beginning at 7:30 a.m. on November 8 and ending at 8:30 a.m. the following day. First-year registration runs from 7:30 a.m. on November 10 and ends the following morning at 8:30 a.m.
