Rapper, songwriter and DJ Gnash will be the main act at Susquehanna’s annual Spring Concert. Following a performance from Susquehanna student and DJ Ivan Zaw at 8:30 p.m., Gnash will take the stage at 9 p.m. in front of up to 212 students.

Born in Los Angeles to a musician and producer, Gnash has performing in his blood. At the age of 13, he began DJing, and after college, he started producing song covers.

Known for hip-hop/rap and pop, Gnash made his musical debut in 2015 when he released numerous singles including, “Feelings Fade” with R&B/Soul duo RKCB and “That One Song” with singer-songwriter Goody Grace, as well as two EPs, “U” and “Me.”

In 2016, he released “I Hate U, I Love U,” which featured singer-songwriter Olivia O’Brien and remained on the Billboard Chart for 39 weeks, peaking at number 10 on Oct. 22 of the same year. The song was also nominated for Best Breakup Song at the 2017 Radio Disney Awards, ultimately losing to “Shoutout to My Ex” by Little Mix.

Also in 2016, Gnash was featured on MAX’s “Lights Down Low,” which appeared on the Billboard Chart for 28 weeks, peaking at number 20 in 2018. Considered a sleeper hit, the song didn’t gain its popularity until over a year after its release.

Four years after he released his first singles on SoundCloud, Gnash released his first studio album, “We.” The album features new songs such as “teacher” and “feel better” as well as his most well-received song, “I Hate U, I Love U.”

Gnash’s most recent work includes numerous singles released in 2020 such as “Heartbreak Anthem” with Kyd the Band and “wash your hands” with sad alex and Richard Orofino, as well as his fifth EP, “Outside/Inside.”

Although he may not be as well-known as other artists that Susquehanna has hosted, this concert is sure to be like no other.
