Alexa Petrozzino is a senior marketing major and is also a guard for the Susquehanna women’s basketball team. Hailing from East Hanover, N.J., she finished with 95 points last season while the team finished with a 15-10 record for the 2019-20 season.

What made you choose Susquehanna?

I chose Susquehanna because of the great business program offered. I liked how the small school atmosphere would give me opportunities to create close relationships with my professors. I was also given the opportunity to continue my basketball career at Susquehanna which was a huge reason I chose this school.

What makes the Susquehanna Women’s Basketball (SUWBB)l program so unique?

The Susquehanna women’s basketball program is unique due to the tight knit and positive culture we have. We all share the same love for the sport and support each other which makes being part of SUWBB so special.

Do you have a favorite professional basketball team?

My favorite professional basketball team is the New York Knicks.

What has been your favorite memory both on and off the court?

My favorite memory on the court was beating Elizabethtown at home for the first time in four years which was a huge accomplishment. My favorite memory off the court was being able to see the men’s team win the Landmark Championship.

How has COVID-19 changed your college experience?

Covid-19 has unfortunately cancelled my last basketball season. This is obviously sad, but I am still grateful that we get to practice and lift, and I can be at school with my friends and teammates for my last semester.

If you could retake one course that you really enjoyed, what would it be and why?

I would retake my consumer behavior class. I thought it was very interesting to learn more about my major field of marketing and I enjoyed my professor also.

How has basketball shaped you into who you are today?

Basketball has shown me how to be a hard worker and leader. I know to never give up and I need to put in hard work to achieve what I want. I am very thankful for all the life lessons this sport has given me.

Do you have any game day superstitions?

In high school I would wear the same socks for every game no matter what.

Favorite pregame hype song?

My favorite pregame hype song is anything that is upbeat and fun. We all enjoy playing very loud music in the locker room before a game, so we can get hyped up for the game.

What advice do you have for any future River Hawks that are looking to become student athletes?

Being a student athlete at the Division 3 level is a great experience. I encourage future student athletes to work hard and make the best of their time here. This is such a big sports school which makes being part of a team so much better. You will make friends that will last a lifetime so make sure to get involved because you will not regret it.
