Alanna Connolly is a senior biology major with a business administration minor on the Susquehanna women’s basketball team. She is from Whitehouse Station, N.J. and has been a 5’10” forward for the team. Connolly averages 4.4 points and 3.3 rebounds each game. She also has three varsity letters beginning with when she started to appear in games her sophomore year.
What is your favorite part about the sport?
My favorite part about basketball is all of the life-long friends and wonderful people it has brought into my life.
What is your favorite class you are taking this semester?
My favorite class that I’m in this semester is Microbiology.
Why did you choose to play at Susquehanna?
SU had the close-knit community I was looking for in a college. When I visited I loved the campus and the warm atmosphere that SU has.
What has been your most memorable moment?
My most memorable moment was when we played Moravian my sophomore year; I had 18 points and went 8-9 from the floor.
Who did you grow up watching play basketball? Do you have a favorite team?
I watched a lot of college basketball growing up and really loved watching Notre Dame women’s basketball or Duke’s men’s basketball.
What is your favorite warm-up song?
“Prospect” by Iann Dior or “SKYBOX” by Gunna are my go to songs.
At what age did you start playing basketball?
I started playing basketball when I was eight.
Who had the greatest impact on you during your time at Susquehanna?
My teammates had the greatest impact on me during my time at SU. We have gotten to share so many memories together on and off the court.
What is one game you will never forget?
My favorite game was our home win against Drew last year. It was close the entire game and everyone on the team contributed. It was a great win and really felt like we implemented everything that we were trying to improve on.
During your time playing at Susquehanna you had been coached by two different coaches. How was it transitioning from one coach to the next as a team and personally?
It was an adjustment learning and adapting to two different coaching styles, but our team was very receiving and adaptable to the change.
Who is your biggest role model in life? Why?
My parents are my biggest role models in life. They work hard and are passionate in everything that they do and feel that they’ve taught me the same.
During this global pandemic did you learn new things about yourself?
It really made me appreciate each moment as it comes and never take anything for granted.
What is your advice for younger students or student athletes?
Enjoy all of the small moments, they become the memories you hold on to and remember the most!
