This semester, as we all know by now, has been unlike any other. One on-campus group, though, seems to have been able to keep some sense of normalcy amongst students while incorporating the outdoors and inclusiveness.
SAC, or the Student Activities Committee, has hosted a plethora of events thus far that have all seen large numbers in attendance. The most recent of the events was Haunted Gingerbread Making which saw 84 students throughout the three time sessions offered.
This group has made use of the Smith Lawn Tent for many of their activities which has allowed them to follow all the COVID-19 guidelines set forth by our university. As a member of SAC, I was thrilled to learn how many students were willing to join our activities given the circumstances.
Each event is hosted with the expectation that students will wear their masks and abide by the social-distancing guidelines. SAC has done a tremendous job of reminding students of these rules and setting up the spaces provided by Susquehanna to keep the community safe.
Truthfully, there is not much more to do on campus these days without dreading going outside with our masks on. SAC, however, has provided a number of events that allow students to sign up with their friends for a little break every now and again.
With the lack of a fall break and rigorous course loads piling up on students, there is no better way to relieve stress than to attend at least one of these events during the semester. To close out the year there will be Music Bingo, SU’s Got Talent and a social justice speaker coming to campus.
If you or anyone you know on campus has the time to break away from studying and sign up for these events please do so! Some events fill up rather quickly so be sure to be the first in line when sign-ups are posted! As always, when and if you attend, wear your mask and abide by social distancing guidelines for a safe and fun night with SAC!
