Senior Chris Petraskie led the Susquehanna men’s track and field team as they ended with 11 top 10 finishers at the Brockport Multi in Brockport, NY.
Petraskie took top honors for the River Hawks, finishing third overall in the men’s heptathlon and qualifying for the AARFTC Regional Championships with a new personal best score of 4472.
He crossed the finish line third in the 60-meter dash and fifth in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:51.64. Petraskie also finished second in the high jump, tied for third in the pole vault and claimed second in the long jump.
Sophomore Trent McGuire also scored top performances in the heptathlon, placing 13th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.90, tying for third in the pole vault with a jump of 3.40 m, and claiming 10th in the shot put. Overall, he finished with a score of 3693 to take 11th place.
Field events continued to be a strong area of scoring for Susquehanna, as freshman pole vaulter Isaiah Blatt finished sixth and with a new personal best of 4.40m, while sophomore Keefer Goodspeed tied for eighth, hitting the height of 4.25m.
The remainder of the men’s track and field squad traveled to the 2020 Plex Shootout at Alvernia University in Reading, Pa. Saturday, Feb. 8 and landed a total of eight top 10 finishes.
Senior Dylan Heisey led the team with a third-place finish in the men’s shot put with a throw of 46’ 4 ¼” along with freshman Keith Green taking third place in the triple jump.
In the weight throw, sophomore Anthony Taddeo finished fifth with senior Devon Lindeman placing 12th and sophomore Curtis Anthony contributing with a 28th place finish.
The long jump gathered top-scoring from senior Robert Marks, as he placed eighth with a leap of 20’5” and seniors Donovan Gayles and Keith Green added points to this event.
Freshman Jake Newell placed 10th and Marks placed 11th for the high jump event to finish out the field portion of the meet.
Freshman Chance Singleton finished eighth in the 60-meter run, posting a finish of 7.33 seconds and scoring fifth overall in the 200-meter run.
Sophomore Jonathan White competed in the 400-meter run, placing ninth overall with a blazing time of 52.73 seconds. Rounding out top performances for the River Hawks was freshman Bradshaw Henning, finishing 21st in the 800-meter run.
“Expectations for the end of the season is to win the conference meet and bring one back to Susquehanna before I graduate,” Marks said.
Fellow senior Kashief Hyatt shared a similar sentiment.
“The little things matter and attention to detail is key,” Hyatt said. “My expectation for the end of the season is to be Conference Champs.”
Susquehanna will return to action Saturday, Feb. 15 at home to host the SU Invitational.
